Wasabi Seared Tuna

This tuna steak has some oomph that helps to make it a meal.

  • 2 small tuna steaks
  • 1 tablespoon of wasabi powder
  • Soy sauce
  • Oil for cooking

Put the wasabi powder into a small mixing bowl and then slowly add a few drops of soy sauce.  Keep stirring and drizzle in the soy sauce until you’ve made a thick paste.  Rub the wasabi paste onto both sides of the tuna steaks.

Heat as little oil as you can in a griddle and get it to a good medium to high heat.

Sear the tuna for about 30-45 seconds on each side.  This will be just enough to get a great crust and be nice and pink inside.  Cook for a minute more if you want it cooked through.

Serve with some crunchy leaves like Cos and make an oriental vinaigrette with some Chinese rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, ginger and a few drops of soy sauce.
