A ‘Fry Up’
And now the good news… Since when did a ‘fry-up’ find it’s way onto a diet menu? Well here goes. Ok not fried but grilled, but still great. They’re big breakfasts so more a weekend brunch than a weekday regular, perhaps.
Full English (for one):
- An egg or two – poached or scrambled
- 2 thin rashers of lean back bacon – all fat removed
- 1 tomato
- 1 Portobello mushroom
- 1 lean sausage – if you really must
- 1 slice of whole grain toast and a little butter.
You know how this goes don’t you? Heat your grill to a medium high setting. Grill or griddle the tomatoes and mushroom, but grill the bacon to allow fat to drain away. A sausage? – well it’s up to you. You’re trying to lose weight so it’s better to save it for a Reload day but if you find yourself a good quality lean one it’ll be about 100 calories. Poach your egg in simmering water with a little vinegar to help it hold together. Or whisk with a drop of milk and scramble softly in just a tiny smidgen of oil.
