Fast Day Foods


Pure protein

There are lots of variations of meat, poultry and fish you can use, but for good availability and the ease of preparation here’s a wide enough selection:

Meat

·      Chicken – ideally breast but any other parts without skin and fat.  Even pre-flavoured bites from the supermarket.

·      Turkey too

·      Any game birds.

·      Steak and other lean beef – including rare burgers, braesaola

·      Lean pork medallions/ chops without the rind – not your belly or streaky bacon I’m afraid

·      Lean ham – not ordinary ham, beware.

·      Lamb at a push – if you can find it only lightly marbled and well trimmed, and mutton

·      Goat (well you might be on holiday…)

·      Rabbit

Fish and seafood:

·      Any fish or seafood.  The usual suspects: cod, sole, haddock, trout, plaice, sea bass, sea bream, prawns, scallops etc.

Remember the super easy-picking options like:

·      Smoked salmon

·      Salmon fillets

·      Poached salmon

·      Tuna fillets / tinned tuna

·      Smoked mackerel

·      Smoked trout

Dairy

·      Eggs

·      0% fat yoghurt

Fast No-Goes

Just to be clear, these are OFF LIMITS

No fatty meat – skin, fat, basic burgers or sausages, no salamis or bacon

No starchy vegetables - no potatoes, rice, sweet-corn, peas nor pulses

No grains – no bread, pastry, pasta, cake, cereals

No fruit – including avocadoes

No sugar

No fruit juices

No alcohol

No oils, well a tiny drop
